In order to understand, you MUST watch both videos.
Stallworth had a blood-alcohol level of .126 after the crash, well above Florida's .08 limit. Stallworth stopped after the crash and immediately told officers he had hit Reyes. Police estimated Stallworth was driving about 50 mph in a 40 mph zone.
Gallo also was charged with driving under the influence causing injury, and driving with a blood-alcohol level over .08 percent causing injury with a sentencing enhancement that he personally inflicted great bodily injury. In addition, he was charged with fleeing the scene of a traffic accident causing death or injury.
If your read both police reports, the first difference or first thing that you’ll notice is that Mr. Gallo had a history of driving under the influence and fled the scene. While Mr. Stallworth “acted like a man”, pulled to the side of the road and alerted the police. He acted like a man they say, whereas Mr. Gallo has been called a “monster”, a “criminal” and various other names…HMMM..WHAT THE FUCK?
If I beat the shit out of a a wife or girlfriend because she keeps walking in front of the television, but I take her to the hospital and I tell them I did it, apologize and promise to make better decisions the next time ..AM I ACTING LIKE A MAN? If I go out and rape a child, then return that child to their parents, apologize and promise not to do it again..AM I ACTING LIKE A MAN? I know that those are two very different situations or extremes, but so is driving under the influence and taking someone's life. Stopping or not stopping afterward is not where the line between being a man or not is drawn. Choosing to get behind the wheel of a car after ANY amount of drinking is irresponsible and criminal, how it’s possible for one “MAN” to plea to 30 days in jail, community service and a fine while another is likely going to jail for the rest of his life is well..UNJUST. I get that Mr. Gallo took more than one life, but he and Mr. Stallworth BOTH took lives, it just so happens that one is a multi-million dollar athlete and the other is a common person or “street thug” to some.
I can’t nor do not feel sorry for either “killer” in this, because again they made their choices, I do however feel for the families on the other side of these stories. See, one family gets a “financial settlement” while the other get a life full of “blame”. “How could the Gallo family raise such a person?” I read in one report. I’m sure that the family of the victim in the Stallworth case is asking the same question…ESPN for 3 days had the Adenhart Story as it’s “TOP STORY”, but yesterday the Stallworth case was Bottom Line News, no one was one talking about that, no one had “video highlights” of the 59 year old man who was trying to catch the bus. Michael Vick went to jail and lost his career for fighting dogs…There was a public outcry for justice, Vick was the WORST PERSON in the world. So much an disgust was thrown at him for fighting dogs, dogs that most people fear and that are banned almost everywhere now. I personally believe that dog fighting should be legal, it is a sport and well before you disagree see: Greyhound Racing, Horse Racing, Hunting, Fishing. The ‘educated’ will argue that the difference is that “dog is Man’s Best Friend”. Okay so if Vick had kept the dogs in a better place and not violently killed the ones’ who under performed would that make things better? I think of it like this: In pro sports an athlete is “cut” when his value is determined to be below that of his peers. A dog, in dog fighting is basically looked at the same way. If that doesn’t make sense to you, well then you’re too closed minded and should stop reading…
Money Walks, if you look at most of the crimes that “athletes or stars” commit and compare those very same crimes to the everyday person you’ll see a stark difference. The question that I have is why? Why is it only fair when your income makes it fair? I’m black and all my life I’ve heard that “We deserve equal rights”, shit, there was a time when women wanted the same thing…Now I’m an adult and I’m wondering…When will those with millions face the same justice as those without? If I knew I could do just about whatever I wanted and would only have to “sit a few games out” then maybe my name would show up on a Police Blotter. Hmm, I guess since I’m not a judge or a lawyer I can’t do anything about this..but as a now “Former Fan, and supporter” I can choose to NEVER WATCH PRO FOOTBALL AGAIN…Not as long as MONEY WALKS.
